ZOO!

School must be back in session for the region if Cally gets a good portion of the dino dig to herself and actually gets to touch a sea creature in the touch tank without waiting for a half hour! Cally even looks shocked! ;)

Future cool kids on a Friday night

Cally looks so cool that she is in danger of falling asleep. Addy is ever the clown. Both girls love spending time with their good buddy and her sister (who must have ventured off for the moment).

First time at the barre!!

Nothing that is worth it comes easy, right?! I found that old expression to be true about getting Cally in dance this year! Scheduling the 'baby' class is super hard because not as many parents are interested in putting their 3 year olds in dance. Cally was moved three times before classes started for her yesterday. The last change came about 45 minutes before her new class time. Obviously, thanks to helpful neighbors, Cally made it!!! David was with her and he said she had an absolute blast. I can't wait until next week so I can watch too! Addy starts on Thursday so stay tuned! ;)

My bobbed cuties!

The girls got their hair freshened back up and we all love it! Addy and Cally are pretty sassy with their new cuts. :)

Glow, Runner, Glow!

A few friends and I participated in a super fun 5K this past weekend. It was so much fun, partially because the weather was much more pleasant to run in and also because it was less crowded than the last big 5K I did. Oh and another perk of this race was that the course was short! It was only 2.85 miles (thanks to the police department!) rather than the 3.15 miles that were mapped. When I got to the finish line and read the time I knew there was NO way I had done 3.2 miles in that time. ;) I still had a great pace for me with the shortened distance and improved my last 5K pace by over 40 seconds. Another bonus was that there was plenty of cold water for this run as well as snacks after! Overall, the biggest perk (besides getting to see friends!) was the finisher's medal! Addy is going to take it to school for one of her show days, even before she brings in Fluffy!

Cally doesn't suffer fools....

Believe it or not, Cally is VERY excited to be a preschooler now! She is not excited to have her arrival at preschool delayed by an annoying mom insisting she hold a sign and take a few pictures. Especially when Cally already compromised on her outfit and ate a little breakfast. Oh yeah, she also let me french braid her hair like Addy's. It really was a fantastic morning before preschool, there were no meltdowns, screaming, hitting, or kicking. I hope preschool went as well!!! :)

The Future!

These future occupation predictions are brought to you courtesy of our local children's museum. We always have so much fun there, especially when school for most of the area is back in session!

If you need a good firefighter...

look no further! :)

First grade is so GREAT!

Addy loves first grade! I am so happy to be able to write that! Addy was not ready to return to school and was worried that she would be bored. So far, three hours into her year of first grade she is loving it. I think we are going to have another great year. :)
Cally gets to start preschool on Monday! She was not at all happy to have to watch Addy go to school two days before she gets to finally start. I definitely have mixed feelings about my girls growing, growing and growing, but I have decided to just enjoy every moment of it.

Cally's turn at decorating...

Here is how Cally thinks our living room should look. Cally is absolutely obsessed with wearing her dance dresses pretty much all the time in the house. She only has two weeks to wait for dance classes to start.

Bath time is NOT fun time for Fluffy!

Poor Fluffy! Poor Grandma! At one point Fluffy was attached to my hand solely by her teeth. Yikes! Did Fluffy need a bath? Nope, Addy just wanted to give her one. I agreed because poor Addy is going back to school and I wanted to be a cool mom. ;) I guess all is well that ends well.  Fluffy is certainly soft now...

Addy and Cally's special date!

Addy invited Cally on a special date. Her plans were to enjoy a cool beverage while watching the sunset over a pretty view. All of this happened right next to the garbage cans. Luckily, the trash and recycling had just been picked up earlier that day. :) Sister time is special time!!

Mommy parks!

One of the parks within walking distance has 'old school' style park play structures and the other half is the new huge park style. The girls and I scootered down to the park and played in the nice, cool summer day! What a wonderful break from the oppressive heat we had been experiencing most of the summer! We have been taking advantage of it and Addy has completely mastered both her bike and scooter with no training wheels!! I think getting used to just a two-wheeled scooter helped a lot in her balancing on her bike.

After Addy pushed Cally (and me- I hopped off to photo) on the merry-go-round, the girls see-sawed. Then they ventured off to the traditional slide of death that most of us adults loved as kids. :)

A Better Decorator

I am the first to admit that I struggle with decorating our home. Addy apparently has tired of my deficiencies and taken it upon herself to remedy our home's lack of style. She decided that it will be her responsibility to change the Lego statues with the seasons. Fabulous! I am now free to work on solving bigger issues, like my hair! ;)

A great summer of learning!

Cally loved her first preschool experience! Her teachers were wonderful and Cally is now super prepared for her first day of preschool. :)

A Bear and her T-shirts!

Cally loves T-shirts! That is quite an understatement. For the last week, every morning Cally chooses a pretty dress to wear and then as soon as it is completely on her body, she changes her mind. Cally does not quietly change her mind, she screams and tears off the offending dress. At that point, I leave Cally's room. At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, Cally emerges happily dressed in a T-shirt and leggings. I am not sure why we have to go through the initial insistence on wearing a dress but it seems necessary to Cally's daily plan. :)

Back in the Saddle!

Hands free Mama!

Addy came up with the brilliant idea that she would be able to get more crafting done if she could be a hands-free mama to Fluffy! I helped her out with tying the sling (or as Addy calls it Fluffy's Ergo).
