A future in the WNBA?
Addy has been a huge fan of David's when he plays in his work's Monday night basketball league. She will even shout encouraging advice such as, Daddy don't miss it!. Then she will make sure everyone sitting near us knows, Daddy missed it. This past Monday was Addy's first opportunity to try out her own skills at the game. Apparently, she liked it as she said, this is neat!

Odds and ends
We don't usually make it to the mall, but we had some time to kill before an appt. near the mall so we stopped in. The first thing Addy saw was the carousel so we headed over there to get a closer look and a ride.
Addy and David were choosing which animal to ride on.

Addy originally voted for the giraffe but was game to change her choice to a horse so she could go up and down.

Last Saturday Grandma N came out for a visit. For dinner we joined Grandma and Shelly for dinner. We all had a very good time. :)

Last, but not least, here is Addy at 2.5 years exactly. We decided she needed a 30 month check up and brought her in to see her ped. ;) Really she had a sinus infection but Addy never acts sick so we usually bring her in and let our ped check her out. Most of the time it is nothing, but twice she has needed medicine.

We have grout!
Yes, we have a kitchen floor complete with grout. I will update with pictures after I have spent the next few days mopping and re mopping the floor. I am not sure who thought natural slate was better over a nice easy to clean ceramic...
Anyways, I wanted to share a few pictures in the meantime. Recently, I put together our family album for the past year and it was so much fun to look through older photos. Here are a couple. :)

Nursery upgrade
We are getting closer to the arrival of our new little one. I am starting to get antsy with wanting all of the finishing touches complete. Lets see, I need to rewash bed linens, cloth diapers, changing pads, and clothing. Oops, I probably should be doing laundry right now and not blogging! Our nursery has a yellow and green turtle theme. David and I decorated it in 2006 with the idea that we would keep it gender neutral for all of our kids. We didn't find out what sex Addy was and we do not know with this little one either. Because we didn't have to do any major remodeling of the nursery, I have spent some time doing a few extra finishing touches for the baby and nursery.
Here are a dozen burp cloths I have embellished for the baby. One half dozen have a flannel stripe down the middle, the other half have flannel 'extensions' on each end. I am really happy with how they turned out and plan to do another dozen or so, time permitting.

These are two of the nursing covers I have sewed. I *might* have borrowed the pattern from a very popular nursing cover brand or I *might* secretly be a design genius, I will let you all decide.

These are a few of the turtle wallies that decorate the room. Miranda put them up for me only two weeks before Addy was born. They are a small part of the turtle theme.

This is a mobile cover I sewed to create a much fancier mobile for the baby. I hope that the baby will appreciate viewing green turtles wandering around yellow flannel material and sleep much better for my efforts. The white plastic never bothered Addy, but kids today are so much more sophisticated than they were even a few years ago.

PS, if you are interested, I would be happy to share the pattern I used for the nursing covers.

Ta-Da, Addy's big girl room
Addy loves to show off her big girl room. Right now her favorite part is her remodeled closet turned play room. Her room has two huge closets, one is used for David's work clothes, the other we set up as a play room. It even has a window and tons of natural light. We still have to find a low long book shelf for it and move more toys upstairs, but we are making progress on it.

Here is the dresser we bought off of Craig's list, it has a mirror/vanity too but we decided to leave that off for a few years. David refinished the dresser and I love how it turned out.

I made Addy's curtains and the artwork. Luckily, she is not too critical of my skills yet. :) It is hard to tell in the pics, but the curtains with the pattern do have the same purple in them.

Addy's big girl bed, she loves it! She is so good with staying in it and not falling out. We pretty much only had to tell her that she is supposed to stay in bed (during nap) and she said, oh. I hope she is not saving up her rebelious instinct for her teen years....

Fancy shmancy tumbling
Addy does a local tumbling class here in town. It is a lot of fun for Addy's age and skill level, but when I heard about an open playtime for preschoolers at a more elite training gym in Lincoln, I had to try it out. Overall, it was great! I loved that they open their entire gym to the kids, not just their preschool section. Addy was able to jump on the built in trampolines, jump into the big pit of foam, use balance beams of all heights and widths, and run on the boingy floor exercises section.
Part of the preschool section of the gym, also Addy's first time trying a rope climb.

Addy's first venture into the big foam pit.

Soon Addy was comfortable enough to get a running start on the big pit.

Whee!

At first I was unsure about how Addy was going to get out of the big pit of foam, but she showed me how it is done.

Skate, Skate, Skate!!!
I attended high school and a few semesters of college in a state where hockey is HUGE. You know one of those 'ota' states, where the landscape is pretty similar to barren frozen tundra. Addy attended her first hockey game in utero (I actually felt her move for the first time at a game) and last night she attended her first real game. All Addy knew was we had promised her popcorn and a hot dog and a game similar to the baseball, basketball and football she had seen before, so she was all for it.
Oh yes, popcorn.

Oh yes, more popcorn

Oh, there is some sort of activity going on, where did I put my popcorn?

Wow, what is that?

I like that!

Addy's final verdict of the hockey game was, that was a fun game! Then she searched her shirt for any dropped popcorn.

Slate floor pics
Here are the pics of the slate floor I promised. We (meaning the one who is not 30 weeks pregnant) have to grout still, but all the cuts are made and the floor is completely laid.
This is looking down the length of the kitchen (from the back of the room)

This is looking in from the side entrance, right off the dining room

Here is a closer shot of the slate back splash, it is grouted and complete now. :)

Art is painful
Addy loves to paint and color. Luckily, there are these great 'paints' that only paint on the special paper they come with so I can relax and let Addy go to town.

Although being an artist is NOT an excuse for neglecting your bouncing.

The only problem with the paints is that Jiffy can not resist trying to get them. This is where the title, art is painful comes from...
Here is Jiffy trying to make her move on Addy's beloved blue paint.

Yum, yum, I like to eat blue paint.

No, Jiffy, No, Jiffy! That is MY blue paint!

Oh shucks, where did my blue paint go?

Oh well, I am sure these crayons taste just as good.
