It was a rather timely illustration because Cally picked right up where Addy left off and starting singing, "cry baby".

The good, the bad and the ugly...
I guess it was bound to happen at some point, but this past Sunday, I overheard Addy taunting Cally. Cally was whining over something and Addy started chanting, "cry baby, cry baby". Addy was saying it as an order, cry baby, rather than calling Cally a cry baby. Still I stepped in and explained to Addy that such behavior will cause misery all around. I did such a great job explaining to Addy the error of her ways that Addy even drew a picture to illustrate my explanation.

UNO- not the college but the game!
Addy and David play a lot of UNO! I mean A LOT! I love that they play with my old college deck, which comes complete with a set of rules if you wish to play UNO 'college' style when you are thirsty. ;) What is great about Addy and David's UNO games is that Addy not only learns strategy but she is learning to lose. That is a big lesson and a very loud one too.
Google to the rescue...
One good thing about Addy being in Kindergarten is that Cally gets to push all the buttons she can get her little finger on! :)
Cally did not love the gorillas. Or as she put it, 'I don't like the scary monkeys!'
I think one of the gorillas charging us might have contributed to her feelings of fear!
My computer/photo mystery has been cleared up. Somehow there is an issue between McAfee and Windows that causes photos to disappear when rotated. Silly little issue, right? Once I changed my computer's settings to show hidden files, folders, etc I could see the rotated pictures. What a pain, especially because the issue just struck today for me, but it has been documented with solutions back in March. McAfee must be busy with more important stuff than keeping my photos from vanishing! But, where would I be without google to type my problem in a little rectangular box and find an answer???

A morning at the zoo!
Once school is back in session, the zoo becomes one of our favorite places to visit. These photos are from Cally's second zoo trip with out Addy. Unfortunately, I am having photo/computer issues and these are only about half the ones I wanted to post. I am hoping I can figure out the issue, but in the meantime, here are some pics of the zoo.
Cally was not too happy to see any of the larger animals this visit.

Things not normally seen...
Kindergarten, Day 2!
I thought it would be neat if I documented every one of Addy's kindergarten days! Ha, just joking! ;) But seriously, here is Addy on her second day of kindergarten.
Addy said her favorite part of the first day of kindergarten was catching a cricket in her classroom. Typical Addy! Her favorite part of the third day was the toad she found (but was not permitted to catch) outside during recess and the snake that was relocated from in the school to outside the school.

Addy's big day!
We spent a few minutes posing with our favorite Kindergartner!
Addy is demanding to go back, so I guess she had a good time.
The highlight of Addy's day though, happened after Kindergarten. Her joy could hardly be contained...
She stumbled upon a LIVE, WILD butterfly in her own backyard!!!
Oh no, how tragic! Her LIVE butterfly has a mortal wound!
Oh well, it is better to enjoy the moment!

Fairing it up in Iowa!
We could hardly pass up the Iowa State Fair while in Des Moines last week! The fair in Iowa is really something else. Our first stop was to check out the horses. So many friendly horse owners let the girls pet their horses.
The girls are in front of the cutest, fuzziest cows! Maybe they are big calves? I could not get over how fuzzy they were!
Tim Pawlenty was still a contender on Friday when he was grilling it up for the Pork producers.
Our fearless navigators once again took charge!
Three kids with acute cases of the sillies!
There was quite a bit of early campaigning going on. It was an interesting mix of suits and daisy dukes.
Cheese!
The sign reads, Turkeys aren't dead, they just sleep funny. Probably something important to remember if we return to Iowa.
David and his bear!

Dizzy....
David and I decided to take the girls to Adevntureland in IA. The drive is not too bad and the park has a ton of rides for their age group. We went with a friend and his son whom Addy adores.
J rode with us out to Adventureland. The kids did great, Addy stole J's hat and wore it quite proudly (I had flash backs of doing the same thing in my youth!). They played a game where the made up a new ending for the rhyme, "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!" One of my favorites was, "you get what you get and you don't throw a chair!"
Our two wonderful navigators led the way!
Addy was the only one interested in greeting one of the park's mascots. Sometimes David and I still do double takes when Addy shows her outgoing, playful nature. She used to be so shy and timid.
The kids on the plane rides.
There really was a ton of little kid rides with pretty much no wait time.
Addy refused to go on the little kid boat ride after she went on the log jam type ride. Her reaction to that ride was hilarious, we bought the photo from the ride even. Oh and Addy's reaction to a real (the park's old wooden coaster) roller coaster was priceless as well. She made me laugh so much that day!
Cally and I enjoyed a huge ice cream cone (with candy blended in!) while the bigger kids went on a rafting ride. Poor Cally did not meet the height requirement so she and I stayed dry. ;)
We did a ton more that day, but I managed to lose my camera on a ride and didn't claim it until we were on our way out of the park. A huge thank you to the kind park-goer who turned my camera in!!! :)

Just another day....
Cally loves scooting!
Addy was collecting more bugs...
David had quite a bit of tree branch removal to do! Our tree in front lost one huge branch and many smaller ones in a storm last weekend. The huge branch left an impact 'crater' even!
Cally is great on the tricycle too, steering is not going quite as well as the peddling though!

Zoo trip!
Addy has a new favorite picture pose. I am pretty fond of it! :)
While riding Iris, Addy found out that Butch has moved onto a new home.
Cally had a butterfly land on her tummy. Judging by her scream, I think Cally thought her life was in danger...
Addy was much more in tune with butterflies.
