Addy and the Ergo!
Everyone in our house loves our new Ergo baby carrier, even Addy! I had just finished sewing covers for the straps (Cally eats them) and Addy decided it was time for her to take a ride in 'the swing' as she calls it.

Addy's new dress
I made the second style pillow case dress, the only difference is that the neck doesn't use elastic, the strap goes through both the front and back and ties the dress that way. It worked out pretty well and my skills are slowly improving, I would grade this effort a solid B+.

I have enough left over material to make Cally a matching little dress. :) I am so going to be the mom who dresses her girls in matching dresses. ;)

Dino Quest!
Although when we left the house in the morning our destination was not Dino Quest we had a great time and heartily recommend Fontenelle Forest to anyone.
Ready for an exciting stroll through the forest.

Addy's first reaction to the dinos.

Addy's brave protector, Daddy.

Music in the forest, very relaxing.

Surprise, surprise, Addy digging for worms.

Me and the girls.

Daddy and his girls.

Peek-a-boo!

An afternoon well spent!

Look who's sitting!
Cally Bear is! I came home from an afternoon out at the movies with Molly (I wish I could say this is a regular occurrence but no, not for this SAHM)and what did I come home to? Cally decided to show off her muscles to Daddy and was sitting up in her bouncy chair with out any support. It only took her a couple of days to decide she could live without snacking on her hands if her hands could be useful in helping her sit.
Addy is pretty excited about this new development. Her first response was to celebrate with Cally by a rousing game of catch. We were left to explain that sitting up and catching a ball are not the same skills.

True to her Thomas-loving self, Addy was ecstatic to have a new Thomas playmate. Driving a train is easier to do when you can sit up.

Another fun thing to do when you can sit up is to get driven around by your older sister. This is a very telling picture, Addy is a terrible back seat driver. I often hear, slow down mom, faster mom or my favorite, don't worry Daddy can drive us there.
I am more than a little sad at how fast Cally is growing.

The ever popular pillow case dress!
A great friend and wonderfully crafty woman shared this blog (freshlypicked.blogspot.com) for the in demand 'pillow case dress pattern' with me. I whipped one up in my spare time and Addy was delighted with my efforts. Although any decent home economics teacher would have graded my finished dress a C+. Do they still teach home economics anymore?
I can't wait to pair the dress up with pants in the fall and winter. I remember as a kid HATING when my mom tried to make me do that. It is so much fun carrying on traditions with our kids, isn't it? ;)

Stay tuned, I have another style to try out as soon as I get my hand on a cute pillow case.

All in a day's work
It has only taken me 4 years, but I have finally convinced David to invest in the curb appeal of our home sweet home. David scraped and pressure washed the house and even fit in priming between his erratic work schedule. Next, an exciting shade of white paint will be applied. I am sure our whole neighborhood will be impressed with our daring design style.

Here is how Addy passed her time while David worked.

Here is how Cally passed her time while David worked.
Both girls assured me it is hard work being so stinking cute!

Cally's new hat

We put Addy in tumbling for the whole last year. Every session I said maybe this will be the session that Addy will learn how to do a roll. Addy, of course, had other thoughts and showed not one bit of interest in learning how to do anything but bounce and run. Both of which, I might note, she had already done without the aid of lessons. I was pretty surprised when out of the blue Addy starting turning rolls like she was born doing so. Here is a short clip of my gymnast! ;)

Why so blue Jiffy?
I should have seen this coming, but somehow it snuck up on me. I decided the time had come for me to let Addy paint with her new special glass markers. We have a three season sun porch that has tons of windows right at Addy's height and I had this room in mind when I purchased the markers.

David and I were in the kitchen making yet another delicious dinner when Addy came in and asked for a napkin. Not being born yesterday, I did inquire why she needed the napkin, but Addy insisted it was 'for nothing'. I followed her out of the room when I heard her say something about Jiffy.

After much scrubbing, Jiffy is still blue. When David asked, "why so blue Jiffy?", Addy happily answered, "I made Jiffy so blue!". It wasn't until the next morning that I realized that we never got around to telling Addy that cats are not for coloring. Oh well, maybe next time Jiffy will be faster. However, we did catch Bandit pointing and making fun of Jiffy and that will not be tolerated! ;)
