You mess with the bull...

I asked Cally how she was doing on a certain task (picking up, Cally is not a fan of it these days) and Addy piped in to tell me that Cally had not done a single thing. I said to Cally, "Uh-oh Cally, Addy tattled on you! You better get busy!" Cally looked over at Addy, raised her hand and said, "Addy, no tattle!" I guess Addy learned about the horns the hard way... ;)

We'll just see about that!

I have been teasing Addy for a couple of days about going to preschool with her. This Wednesday was Addy's show and tell day so it started with my suggestion that she bring me for the day. Addy was not a fan of that idea at all and has consistently told me, "No! Parents are NOT allowed at preschool!" Today she went a little further and put a threat in her refusal. I once again asked if I could accompany her to school and she told me, "I will NOT let THAT happen!"

King David!

You will have to forgive me for my lack of blogging and for not having any pictures for this post. My dear camera has moved onto a better place and I am still in mourning. To make up for loss I decided to share a few things that the girls have said/done that have left me laughing.

Addy and I had just gotten done discussing Martin Luther King Jr and skin color differences when Addy came back in the room and asked if I knew who the new King was. I had no idea what or who she meant so I said no and expected her answer to relate to MLK Jr. I was surprised when she said, 'David, but not my Daddy David'. Ahh, yes King David is not our David. Addy went on to relate the story of how David was chosen by God along with someone named Jessie (?)to become King.

If Addy ever offers to visit a Spanish-speaking country with you, just say no. I overheard Addy instructing Cally on a little bit of daily-use words. If you need to eat lunch south of the border, know that 'supper' is the word for lunch.

It was 'I' week last week at preschool . Addy came home dressed as a super cute Indian. While I was complimenting Addy on her paper bag clothes and head dress, she informed me she was an 'Indiat'. I quickly helped her to hear the difference in the end of the word. Just for fun I introduced the words Native American too.

Cally is learning more and more words each day and it is pretty bitter sweet to see my Baby becoming such a Big Girl. She has even learned the very important sister-skill of tattling! Cally's most amazing news is that she is starting to sleep through the night routinely now! (Please knock on wood for me!!)

Snow!

Cally was diving for Addy's beloved eagle egg here and could not quite stay upright in all her winter gear. We had to help the poor thing up and Addy was able to reclaim her eagle egg as a result.

About to get on the sled...

Cally couldn't quite make it...

Somehow the girls were thrilled to clear snow off the sand and water table.

All done!

Cally didn't last too much longer after this last photo, she was having glove issues. But Addy went back out with David and helped clear snow off of pretty much everything. Overall, it was pretty fun to have snow and decent temps to play outside.

Napping for dummies!

At the mature age of probably 18 months, Cally gave up naps. Yeah, it was pretty painful, but truthfully, she only napped 45 minutes tops anyways. Sleep has been such a struggle with Cally that I could not gather the strength to force the issue of naps. Besides, was I going to drug her to make her nap? Well, apparently Addy has such happy memories of her beloved, daily 3-hour naps that she thought she needed to pick up my slack and get Cally to nap.

Here Addy is showing me how easy it is to get Cally to nap. You just have to try mom!

Addy thinks it is important to lead by example and is demonstrating good nap technique.

Cally is going to show Addy a new thing or two about nap time fun!

Ha-Ha Addy take that! Oh, was that not nice of me? ;)

Addy got her rambunctious charge back down with a favorite toy. Gee, I wonder why I never thought of that?

Welcome!

A new cousin for the girls to grow up with is always pretty exciting. This year, we have had two new additions and we could not be happier!

Welcome to the family!

Finally!

I have long since wanted to make my own pasta and now I have no excuses not to! It was every bit as great as I feared it would be!

I made a large batch of spaghetti pasta and will use the leftovers for tomorrow's dinner.

Crazy pajama night!

We had one of those days where it is best to just admit that a lazy day at home is pretty ambitious. At the end of this lazy day, when Addy was sent up to get her pajamas on, she came back downstairs to tell us that she had no matching pajamas to wear. (The girls laundry is peacefully relaxing in the dryer as I type and has been there for most of the day.) David introduced Addy to the concept of crazy pajama night. As you can see, it was meet with great happiness! Funny note, when I looked for my camera to take a picture of Addy's chosen night clothes, I could not even find the word! I asked Addy to help me find my picture-taking machine. Like I said, it was one of those days. :)

Cally is always a sweetie and had to join in! Cally L-O-V-E-S her candy pjs!

Perfectly playful!

Winter's long, cold arms have wrapped themselves around us and in my usual style, the girls and I have hunkered down. Luckily, we have more than enough to keep us happy and busy. Here are a few of our favorite at-home activities.

Addy can make anything into a craft. It is actually pretty disturbing, she is like a young hoarder, every scrap can be made into a fabulous creation or a snail house (which ever requires less glue). In this photo, Addy is working on one of her many versions of Earth. Oh and she is wearing her favorite Mary costume.

I have let go of my usual anti-video game in my house stance and we now have a video game system. The girls love to play the kids fit game they got for Christmas. It is perfect for getting the girls to work as a team and I love to see how excited they both get.

Addy as Cinderella in our little bouncer.

Cally rocking out in her tutu!

Magnetic dress up dolls are a huge hit in our house. The dolls were getting ready for a jungle expedition. Very exciting times so far this winter!
